Let’s talk about Skincare….

Skin is your largest organ and needs just as much care as the others. Looking for a new Skincare routine that actually works can be a luxurious or daunting experience - as it can be hard to know what your skin needs. Whether you’re new to skin care or you’re a

self-proclaimed skincare guru, sticking to the simple principles below can help you create a personalised skin care routine through every season and every stage of your life.

So, where to start?

Your starting point is establishing your skin type. This will help you choose products that are targeting your skins unique needs. It’s important to remember as we age and as the seasons change, so does our skin. It’s not uncommon for us to need both a winter and summer skincare routine. Pay attention to what your skin feels like and always do your research.

Which best describes your skin?

Your starting point is establishing your skin type. This will help you choose products that are targeting your skins unique needs. Pay attention to what your skin feels like and always do your research.

Sensitive ~ Sensitive skin is prone to dryness, itching, and redness. Your skin is often irritated by skin care products or changes in weather.

Dry ~ Dry skin is easy to identify as it is visibly noticeable. Dry skin can look flaky and generally feels tight and uncomfortable.

Normal ~ Normal skin is generally balanced

- not too dry or too oily throughout the day.

Combination ~ Combination skin is described as having some areas of skin that are normal (or dry) and others that are oily (typically in the T-zone).

Oily ~ Oily skin is generally characterised by shiny skin. Excess oil usually makes skin more prone to breakouts.

Acne ~ Acne prone skin is identified by chronic, recurring breakouts. This may include red inflamed bumps, uneven texture, excess oil or congestion & scarring from previous breakouts

The basic skin necessities…

Now you have identified your skin type, let’s get started with the basics. There are some items in a skincare routine that are absolutely necessary for every skin type.

Cleanser ~ Cleansing your skin twice daily (morning and night) is a must. Cleansing rids your skin of excess oil, debris and dead skin cells - keeping your skin vibrant, healthy and at it’s best! Using a cleanser that’s specifically formulated for your skin type will help you get the best results.

Toners ~ Toners help to balance the skin after cleansing and prepare your skin for intensive treatment products like serums.

Moisturiser ~ Moisturisers balance skin oils and add essential hydration. Again, think about your skin type and hydration needs. For example, if you have oily skin you would choose a Mattefying Lotion that helps with shine control. Note* even oily skin requires a moisturiser - the skin will actually over-produce oils (which can lead to spots) if not moisturised!

SPF ~ UV rays from the sun really wear your skin down and lead to unwanted skin issues like wrinkles and sunspots. Most daytime moisturisers have SPF built in, this makes it easy to protect your skin every day.

Routine Enhancers…

Now you have the essentials, the rest is basically the icing on the cake that makes skincare fun and personalised. You can choose different products that are going to address your skin concerns and help you achieve the look you want.

Serums and Facial Oils Serums ~ are concentrated treatments that address specific concerns - like signs of ageing, dull skin, pigmentation, or appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Eye Cream ~ The skin around your eye is the thinnest on your whole body. Eye creams are specifically formulated for this area and target different concerns like dryness and the appearance of puffiness, dark circles, or crow’s feet.

Face Masks and Sheet Masks ~ Different masks address different concerns. Again, your decision should be based on your skin type. Masks, like the Glacial Marine Mud Mask, draw out impurities while sheet masks like Celltrex Ultra Recovery Mask can hydrate and rejuvenate the skin’s appearance.

Exfoliators ~ Powerhouses in removing dead skin cells, exfoliators leave you with a healthy-looking, glowing skin tone.

Ready, set, glow!
